I Swear By
by: Shanel Odum | Apr. 24, 2007
We all remember Mama slathering our cheeks with a healthy coat of Vaseline before scooting us out of the house in the morning.
Our skin may have started out a little greasy but once that miracle salve soaked in, you couldn’t scratch the word “dry” on it if you tried.
Over the years we may have stuck to the basic moisturizing staples, but hopefully our methods have matured with our skin. If you still swear by your grandma’s sage beauty secrets check out some of our staff’s moisturizing musts.
"I like creams like Biotherm, with a whipped texture because they feel light on my skin but are rich enough to keep it skin soft." - Baze Mpinja, Beauty Editor
“When I'm out of my shave gel, I use conditioner to shave my legs! It makes them feel super supple and smooth.” -Tai Beauchamp, Deputy Editor
“I like to use vitamin E oil because of its dual purpose; it moisturizes the skin and helps to improve scars.” -Celia Smith, Fashion & Beauty Assistant
“It’s not very glamorous, but on really dry days I swear by Vaseline. Use sparingly so you're not too slick.” -Elayne Fluker, Managing Editor

If you have a pesky pimple or zit that just won't go away , just put a dot of toothpaste on the problem and it will dry up by the next morning!

The easiest and most painless way to arch your eyebrows is facial hair remover lotion. Use cuticle scissors for extra long hair grooming and a Q-tip for lotion application. Unlike shaving, Lotion last at least one week, and there's no stubble.

I still use vaseline. I remember growing up I hated when my mother would apply it to my face and skin. I was teased for having a greasy face, but now i'm older and can see the benefits of a well moisturized face. No wrinkle or blemishes. I now do the same to my daughter and she traets me the same way I treated my mother.:)

I had to laugh when I read about the vaseline cause you showl aint lying. Im a southern girl and I have become addicted to products along the same line as vaseline because of that one beauty ritual my Bigmama swore by. So now I will buy a scented lotion, and mix with a little aloe vera baby oil. At night, Vaseline's cocoa butter mixed with a little Vaseline grease does the trick!
