Supermodel [ and super business woman] Tyra Banks covers Issue 17 of the African lifestyle magazine ARISE. Inside the issue Tyra discusses her awkward teenage years and making it as a black model. She tells the magazine, ”I was constantly being told ‘No no no, you can’t have this job, you can’t have that cover, you’re not going to make as much money as the white girl next to you”.

In addition to The Tyra Banks TZONE Foundation, a foundation that  empowers girls and young women to live their dreams, discover new possibilities within themselves, Tyra has also created confidence-building after-school program which she discusses as well.
