Aaliyah fans, prepare to rejoice! Billboard is reporting that Timbaland and Missy Elliott, who contributed to most of Babygirl’s most successful albums, will assist in producing her second posthumous LP.
Aaliyah’s cousin, Jomo Hankerson, confirmed that the album is in the works. He told Billboard that it will include 16 unreleased songs and “fragments” from Aaliyah’s archive. He also answered wishes when he confirmed that Elliott and Timbaland would be involved in the project.
“Timbaland will be involved with this project. One of the records that we had that was never released was a Missy record that we obviously are going to be refreshing,” Hankerson told Billboard.
Blackground is aiming to release the unnamed LP by the end of 2013. It will be Aaliyah’s first project since 2002’s I Care 4 U.
