I knew wanted to be in the entertainment industry at 3 years old.”  - Nikko Sherard.

Meet Nikko Sherard, a 24 year old singer songwriter from Fort Worth Texas. At first glance you might see the prototype lead singer of a boy band (which in actuality, Sherard was a former member of a group called “Blue Mink”), and at first listen you may experience a progressive “urban pop” feel (a light reference to the team he’s working now with on his musical endeavours), especially when listening to his new single “Ole Girl.” Nevertheless, before you get a chance to label Sherard, you’ll his musical offerings will take you on a trip to the extreme opposite ends of his musical spectrum.

There are no limitations on myself as an artist.” states Sherard boldly, crediting his mother and father for his diverse artistry.

Nikko started singing at the age of 6. “I got my soulful R&B side from my mother. Growing up she would play artists like Anita Baker, Luther Vandross and Baby Face. My dad was more into Lenny Kravitz, Sting, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Prince.”

Nikko praises Prince as one of his biggest influences, and respects him as another artist without limits or boundaries. He mentions Prince as one of his top collaboration choices along with Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown and Miguel.

Considering his passion for freedom and individuality, when asked for his thoughts on being part of a group, like that of his past group “Blue Mink” (formed with family members), Sherrard states; “Groups don’t work out because of jealousy. People have to compromise and know their role in the group. What you do is what you do, and you should focus on doing it very well.”

His debut mixtape “The Voices of Nikko Sherard”, is in it’s final stages and will be available for download in the coming weeks on his website. The set will feature the single “That Be You”, written by Andre Merritt (who has penned hits for Chris Brown and Rihanna). Sherard also recently  finished the video for his second single, “Ole Girl”, featuring B. Hamp (of Do The Ricky Bobby“ fame). Sherard’s debut is expected to be a mixture of what Sherard calls; “Alternative Rnb, Rock, and Urban Pop.”
