It’s only March, but one could say that Australian MC Iggy Azalea is having the best year ever. To date she has already scored a record deal with Interscope Records, became the first female to land on the cover of XXL magazine‘s 2012 freshman issue and now she has been singed to T.I.‘s Grand Hustle Records which includes B.o.B., 8Ball and MJG, DJ Drama, and Killer Mike among others. T.I. was already slated to produce Iggy’s debut album, so this news may not come as a huge surprise to many. However, what is surprising is the rate at which Iggy is quickly becoming a serious contender in the rap game. It’s no secret that right now among female MC’s the game is dominated by Nicki Minaj, but with Nicki experimenting with other sounds and genres there is clearly plenty of room for other talented female MC’s to get their shine on.
the Iggamonster, as T.I. affectionately refers to Iggy Azalea as, is set to released her debut album in June. In addition to working with Iggy, T.I. has also signed Houston rap vet Trae Tha Truth and British rapper Chip (formerly known as Chipmunk) to Grand Hustle Records.
