Always a bright spot in a slow news day.
Although the main trending topic yesterday [August 25th] was about the [unofficial] day of mourning for the late great princess of R&B Aaliyah Dana Haughton, fortunately Beyonce and Rihanna both managed to find a bone of humbleness and lay low until the end of the night, being sure not to interrupt all the homage being paid to one that came before them. But of course, before the clock could strike midnight, Beyonce realeased the clip for “1+1″, her 3rd video from her new set “4″ which [in my short and succinct opinion] just looks like an extended version of her scantily clad, oiled and sexed up “Heat” perfume commercial.

Meanwhile, not to be caught sleeping, Rihanna released her latest clip shortly after midnight, “Cheers [Drink To That]“, in which she makes her best effort to convince us that she had fun on the road during her “LOUD” Tour. The video features behind the scenes/performance footage from her trek around the world, including footage from her last stop in her native land Barbados, as she took to the streets for the island carnival. Looking fresh and unbothered, Rihanna’s clip gave me more to look forward to than King B’s typical “sex me up and wipe me down” packaging. [privately; I'm surprised that a "product shot" wasn't included in Bey's 1+1 vid]. Nonetheless, neither video will be winning any awards, but they were a welcome break from the monotony of reading the nagging commentary from other bloggers in my Google reader inbox.
