The music industry lost of of the great ones when Heavy D passed back in November.

It was believed that Heavy D (born Dwight Myers) died due to complications from pneumonia, but it turns out he died from a pulmonary embolism instead.

According to the LA County Coroner’s office the embolism was caused by deep leg vein thrombosis.  Deep leg vein thrombosis is normally brought on when an individual remains immobile  for an extended period of time. A few days before the rapper’s death, he was on a flight back from Europe, after performing on stage during the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert in Wales.

Heavy D also suffered from heart disease, which could have also contributed to his death.
