Love or hate her, Rihanna is on top! The Bajan singer has soared to her 20th Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single quicker than any other solo artist. This title comes just as the song “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, darts 16-9 in its second week on the charts.
RiRi made her debut on the Hot 100 the week of June 11, 2005, with the song “Pon De Replay.” Now some six years and four months later, the singer has broken Madonna’s record by 5 months. Madge achieved her 20th top 10 song, “Hanky Panky,” the week of July 28, 1990, for a stretch of six years and nine months after her chart introduction with the song “Holiday.”
On top of being the fastest solo artist to achieve 20 top 10 songs, Rihanna is also the fifth woman to earn the honor. Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston are the other female artists who have achieved that honor.
With her upcoming album, Talk That Talk, only weeks away from dropping the “Man Down” singer is destined to break even more records. Congrats to RiRi for all her hard work, she definitely earned it!
