On August 1, 1981 music fans huddled around the TV to watch the launch of MTV. Even though the station isn’t exactly what it used to be, a 30th birthday can never go unnoticed and what better way to mark the occasion then to celebrate at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
To commemorate MTV’s 30th birthday, R&B singer Usher, the President of MTV Networks Music and Logo Group Van Toffler, and the President of MTV Stephen Friedman rang the opening bell at the NYSE on August 1, in New York City.
After ringing the bell, the men posed for pictures and were taken on a tour of the trading floor to see the inner workings of the vicinity. Take a look at some pictures from the event below.
