Nicole Ari Parker is heading to Broadway! The Soul Food actress will be making her Broadway debut, as Blanche Du Bois, in the 2012 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire.
Parker will be starring in the play opposite actor Blair Underwood, who will be playing Stanley Kowalski. This is a huge opportunity for the pair, who in my opinion, tend to be underrated actors. There is no doubt in my mind that Underwood and Parker will bring the spunk, sass and emotion needed to execute these characters the right way.
The 2012 revival of the play is expected to be multi-racial and will be directed by Emily Mann. Stephen C. Byrd, of Front Row Productions, has the rights to A Streetcar Named Desire and is on-bard to produce the revival
The play’s score will be composed by famed jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard.
The revival of A Streetcar Named Desire will return to Broadway sometime in the spring of 2012.
