Miss the days of Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam? Been patiently waiting for another show like BET’s Comic View to make it’s way back to TV? Well you are in luck. Bounce TV has made it it’s mission to bring stand up comedy back to prime time TV with new show Off The Chain. Hosted by Rodney Perry that 1 hour show premieres tonight at 9pm ET. Get ready to laugh until your stomach hurts every Monday night. Check out the preview below.

It was announced in April 2011 that Teedra Moses was officially apart of Maybach Music Group and in the past year I have seen absolutely no movement with her being the First Lady of MMG.

The Self Made Vol 1 compilation dropped only a month after this announcement was made so I didn’t even expect to hear anything from Teedra but surprising she was featured on three records. Yes she was limited to just ad-libs and background vocals on that project but that’s understandable since the announcement was still new but I was excited about the possibility that The Lioness album would be coming sooner then later. If Ross rushed to get her in the studio so she would be involved with that project why wouldn’t he rush to get a album out that her diehard fans have been waiting for for at least six years?

It’s been over a year later and we still don’t even have a release date. To add insult to injury she wasn’t featured anywhere on Self Made 2 that dropped in June 2012 but Omarion who had  been signed to MMG about the same amount of time that Teedra was before Self Made Vol. 1 was released, yet he was on the album artwork and had several songs on the compilation.

Speaking of Omarion you had a full blown media convention to announce the signing of Omarion as if it was the best thing to happen since sliced bread. I’m sure by the time Self Made Vol. 2 dropped Teedra had plenty of songs in the bag that could have been featured on that compilation but she didn’t even get to sing ad-libs this time. Or at least can we get a single? Ross has always showed so much compassion and support for all his artists since the beginning so I’m perplexed as to why Teedra Moses isn’t getting that same respect.

There are rumors floating that Teedra isn’t getting that much attention because she’s signed solely to Maybach Music Group and has no distribution through Warner Music Group. If this is so I could understand the delay since this would mean Rick Ross would have to come out of pocket for everything. Then I remembered when Ross purchased a Range Rover for Meek Mill for his birthday so you have the money to put up for her project if you wanted Mr. Rozay. But that would just be too much to ask now wouldn’t it? Especially since Teedra had to make a kickstarter account in order for her band to attend Essence Music Festival.

Now you know that is just wrong!

The icing on the cake was Ross not even mentioning that she is the featured artist on “Amsterdam” from his latest album God Forgives, I Don’t.

If that isn’t shade I don’t know what is. Something is not right with this picture. Not even mentioning her on the album. I definitely wasn’t holding my breath that he’d have her in the video so it was no surprise that when it dropped earlier today there was no Teedra Moses in sight.

How are you going to bring your artist to the forefront if no one ever sees her with you? Yet you put another singer in the video? Antonique Smith, the singer/actress who played Faith in the movie Notorious in the video and she’s not even the one singing?

So I ask again, Does Rick Ross not want Teedra Moses to win? I need answers! What was the point in signing her if you weren’t going to do anything with her?

It’s no secret that R&B singer and Love & Hip Hop Atlanta cast member K. Michelle has alleged that her ex-boyfriend MempHitz abused her when they were in a relationship. She’s talked about the encounter vividly in interviews and has mentioned it on the show. Well now she is doing more then just talking about the incident she is doing something positive.

She’s created a public service announcement where she’s beaten in a wedding dress to get the point across that domestic violence has to stop.

The video that was recorded earlier this year during NBA All-star weekend finally surfaces. Kevin Hart and his Plastic Cup Boyz challenged Ne-Yo & Compound entertainment with a side of Chris Brown to some good clean basketball. Actually I should take back the good part since it appears the majority of the people weren’t even 6 feet tall that were playing and the athletic struggles were obvious on both sides of the ball. If you are looking for basketball theatrics this will lend plenty of good laughs. They clown from the time the video starts until the finish. Definitely great start to my morning. Kevin Hart’s team got the first win, Ne-Yo’s team got the second win, watch below to see who took home the title.

There’s no denying that he is one of the leaders in keeping R&B music sexy (with his voice and appearance) and no we Vixens don’t have any problems at all with the fact that he has his shirt off more then he has one on. But who knew that he could teach you a couple things while in the shower? No not the way you want him to either. To prepare for his summer festival tour he gets you all hot and steamy.

There is no denying as a vixen that we’ll ever truly know what it’s like being a man but why not delve into their thought process just a little bit while being entertained. How do men tick is a question we have been trying to figure out for centuries. Can a woman truly raise a man or do they have to have some sort of male figure in their life (if not their father, a mentor, teacher, something) in order to be a ‘real’ man when they are grown. George A Peters III tackles of all these issues and more in his 1 man show. From a man dealing with his sexuality to the homeless man in NYC and how he got to be that way, to the teenage boy that can’t walk out of his home without being racially profiled.

I got a chance to preview the play last week and it’s entertaining from start to finish. Some issues were glazed over with a comedic tone, for instance there is one character that was a dick head. You were supposed to hate him. You wanted to hate him, but there was something so charming about the way George portrayed him that you more so pitied him for the way he referenced his mother and women in general. I definitely thought he should have went deeper there and really showed why that man is that way and/or made him such an ass that you really didn’t care why he’s that way. Then again that could just be the girl in me wanting to know more. Seriously we can never know enough about men right?

Besides that I was thoroughly entertained. Laughing hysterically at the follies that plague some men’s minds. The play flowed from scene to scene extremely organically dealing with the mindsets of men and men-to-be of all ages. From laughter to shock to moments that seem way too real in light of the recent Trayvon Martin case you will enjoy every second. Also I wish there was a better balance between how much comedy and how much time was spent on the more serious scenes this 1 man show is a must-see.

Some might know the 18 year old by her youtube covers and/or more then dead on Beyonce impersonations. Maybe you know her as an actress and are familiar with her character Jade from the break out BET web series 8 Days A Week. Or maybe you just simply know her as Robert Townsend’s daughter. Either way you can’t deny that the girl is talented. She recently released her debut EP online and for free. Growing up with Mr. Townsend I’m sure her life wasn’t as normal as the rest of ours but there is no denying that the way we feel when we love someone is normal and no matter where you come from those feelings can be the same. Being afraid to love and the vulnerability involved when you allow yourself to. Skye is just getting started so make sure you keep a close eye on this rising vixen.

I have to admit, when I heard her name and saw a pick of her, before I even heard any of her songs I said oh boy Kreayshawn just opened up a new can of foolery and more of more of that trash is going to invade our radios. Thank God she came referred by a friend so I took a listen at her music anyway. It’s refreshing that Kreayshawn has fallen off the face of the earth and Snow, a real M.C. is hopefully about to shine. Oh and she’s not white. “A proud Mexican” in her words and she addresses the stigma of everyone thinking she’s white, what it’s like being a female rapper trying to come up in this stage in life and more in her latest visual. Open your ears real wide, press play, & really listen to what she’s spitting.

Last night I attended the press reception and NYC premiere of Think Like A Man. The press reception was held at Sky Bar where Gabrielle Union, Terrence J, Lala Vazquez, Regina Hall, Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Romany Malco and Jerry Ferrara from the cast were in attendance to mix, mingle & answer questions about the film. After the reception I walked a couple blocks away to the AMC Theater in Times Square for the NYC premiere. It was star studded. Cameos in the movie are endless from Keri Hilson, Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, Wendy Williams, Bruce Bruce, Sherri Shepherd; the list really goes on and even more came out to support the film. X-factor’s Astro Kid, Olivia from Love & Hip Hop, Jennifer from Basketball Wives, John Legend… I’ll stop there.

Now on to my take on the film. As someone that has read the book I was skeptical that the betrayal of the rules would be extremely corny. Reminiscent of the Jamie Foxx movie Breaking All The Rules. That is the furthest thing from the truth. The movie was entertaining from the first scene until the last and is beyond hilarious. Kevin Hart being his normal self as well as narrating the entire movie played a huge part in making me laugh at times until my stomach hurt.

For any guys thinking this is a chick flick. WRONG! This flick is probably more a guy’s film then it is a chick flick. The interaction between the guys reminded me a lot of the movie What Love Is. Just real conversations between men that all women want to be a fly on the wall for. This movie was that and more. Every character was relatable and you will see yourself and all your friends in them.

The storyline between Taraji P. Henson and Michael Ealy‘s characters were probably my favorite. The independent woman that has her own and wants a man that can match what she has but putting her guard down and realizing maybe money isn’t the answer to her happiness.

Terrence J and Regina Hall‘s characters were my second favorite. This is definitely a break out role for Terrence and will have people taking him seriously as an actor if they weren’t before. He did great in this film. Regina is usually in roles that have her acting like an airhead so it was refreshing to see her in a role where was is smart and savvy.

The chemistry between Gabrielle Union and Jerry Ferrara was just stale. They didn’t come off as a believable couple at all. I’m sure it was hard to on film make it seem like you’re in love with someone that is half your height and it showed. The pairing just seemed extremely awkward.

Meagan Good and Romany Malco emulated the part of the book where a woman has to have standards and being paired up with a player. The story we all hope for that rarely happens in real life but definitely had my eye brows raised wondering if I should give this tactic a whirl.

The celebrity cameos were kind of excessive. Especially since the acting by most of them was beyond terrible. The spoiler alert though is that Morris Chestnut is in it. It was beyond hilarious because right before he popped on screen I said every black person in Hollywood that is usually in our romantic comedies is in this movie except him and Nia Long.

Ultimately, it was a very cute movie without being mooshy that I will definitely watch again. The main point conveyed at the reception is that we have to support this film so that the big studios will make more films like this. Make sure you are in the theaters on April 20th and check your ticket stubs and support this movie. Perfect for a date night or to have a girl’s or guy’s night out.

Many have tattoos, but can you really call them a work of art? Then the amount of us that have tattoos versus that amount of those that were tatted by an African American tattoo artist is probably something crazy like one in a million. As a person that has 11 tattoos I can say that only one of them was done by an African American artist and his name is Miya Bailey. He is the brainchild behind this documentary filmed by Artemus Jenkins to bring awareness about the struggle blacks had with entering the field.

My life, in regards to tattoos and my thinking when it comes to the art changed dramatically when I found Bailey o myspace in 2006.

A custom made tattoo? From a person that has always been in love with them since I was a young teen but used to walking in a tattoo shop and picking out a picture on a wall or book, I couldn’t believe there were so many other options. I was determined to have one of his pieces on my body, not even realizing the struggle it took for him to get where he currently creates at City of Ink in Atlanta, Georgia.

Last week at Complex Magazine offices in New York City I was able to see a different side of the man who’s art I’ve been following online for years. As well as the struggle it took for him and other black tattoo artists to get in the game and earn their keep. Check out the trailer below.

The documentary that was around 90minutes long was very insightful, raw and even funny at times. Made me proud that I have one of his pieces on me for life. Soon after finding him online, I flew from New York City to Atlanta just to have a piece of his brilliance.

Outside of learning the history behind blacks getting in the field and how cliche tattooing has become, especially in the entertainment world, it also made me reflect on the tattoo decisions that I’ve made in my life and I now want to get one covered up. Will definitely be reaching out to him again for another work of art. Hoping he won’t charge me the celebrity prices, I’m still on the come up, LOL!
