Does he look like a rapper? Not at all. Especially when he rocks the glasses like in the picture above. Vixens, think back to that quiet guy in college that sat in the back of every class but got straight A’s. Had every girl on campus crushing on him because of his pretty smile and intrigued because although a scholar he’d still hang out on the yard with the party people.
Is he the industry favorite that everyone is looking forward to his debut album dropping this year? Probably not! A lot of people still haven’t heard of him, but that is probably the driving force behind him consistently putting out great music and for FREE.
The “new to some” kid on the hip hop block that was boo’d at Highline Ballroom two years ago and this past Thursday, March 9th had a sold out show at the same venue where he was the headliner. Those that were in attendance know that looks can be deceiving because when he hits that stage every inch of his body wreaks of Hip Hop.
The Meridian, MS native is a one man show producing all his music and will even sing for you on a track or two as he so graciously professes on “Sky Club” from his latest mixtape 4eva N a Day. The conceptual project has no features and takes you through the day in the life of Big K.R.I.T. whose acronym stands for King Remembered In Time. From waking up and having a daily conversation with his pops, to heading to the studio, to having relationships problems with his girl and ending up unwinding at the strip club. Vixen favorites from the tape include the title track “4Eva N A Day (theme song), 1986, Red Eye, Handwriting” & the super seductive “Insomnia.” Whether you are a southerner that likes music with bounce, a New Yorker that just wants some good spitting, or a lady that wants your favorite MC to make love to you over a soulful beat, K.R.I.T. has it all.
I recently had the chance to sit down with him to talk about some of his favorite tracks from the tape, who he’s listening to right now, what it will take for a lady to win his heart, when his long-awaited debut album Live From The Underground will drop and more.
So there you have it. His debut album Live From The Underground will definitely drop via Def Jam in June, 2012.
