Towards the end of last year, the tv personality/hip hop artist gave up the name “Diva” and is currently going by Amanda Seales. With change in name, comes change in focus in projects. Known as a talking head on some of your favorite VH1 specials, and infamously for taking over the Floetry tour after Marsha Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart went their separate ways mid-tour. She is also a talented painter. You can check out her work here.
Next up on the renaissance woman’s agenda is a one-woman show.
In her words:
I got tired of watching women fighting on tv, skilled actresses overlooked for fame whores, and young girls looking up to talentless celebs so I wrote a one-woman show, “Death of the Diva“. My challenge of pop culture’s portrayal of women, I use humor and music, composed by Ray Angry (The Roots, D’angelo, Joss Stone) to speak through a multiple of different characters.
Check out this clip from the show below.
She is doing a run of shows from March 23-25 & March 30, 31 & April 1 at the Helen Mills Theater (www.HelenMills.com) in NYC and needs to raise funds in order to make it the best presentation possible so it can get picked up for a longer run/go on tour. Indiegogo campaign goal is$4500 and they need to make it by March 1st! Go here http://bit.ly/wcRBIh for more details on how to donate!
