Eye Tunes

It's no secret that women spend more money on eye make-up than lipstick, foundation, and blush.

Peak into your Prada or raid your best friend’s old school Caboodle and you'll find countless eye shadows, eyeliners, brow pencils, and at least two tubes of mascara. The eyes have the ability to convey our personality, emotions, and even physical conditions.

If you aren't blessed with a natural Egyptian gaze you can paint one on, thanks to Cover Girl. But please, don’t overdue it. Too much of anything is never good — your faux eyelashes shouldn’t be thicker than the hair on your head and your eyelid, crease, and brow shouldn’t be made up with a single bold color. Still confused on what not to do? Think “Tiffany” from VH1's I Love NY.

Everybody has a favorite brand of eye make-up — whether it’s MAC, Lancôme, Bobbi Brown, or Covergirl. Particularly, more expensive brands tend to have longer-lasting colors and coverage quality. Less expensive brands are cost efficient, but usually a less superior product. This may mean fading colors, crease clumps and even allergic reactions.

You decide. Your eyes are important and the correct eye make-up can dramatically alter your facial presentation. This summer, for eye shadow wows keep in mind:

  • Dark tones should try golds, coppers, and greens

  • Medium tones go with greens, golds, and even pinks

  • Fair tones should add a splash of yellow, pink and even warm blue

Clichéd but true — the eyes are the windows to the soul. What are yours saying about you?

Shanika, Woodwinked is good for all types of skin tones. I know you look gorgeous girl!

I agree with this outlook on Summer tones for eyes in all tone types. I am dark toned, so last night I decided to give my eyes a summer (night life) feeling. I use MAC on my eyes faithfully. I used Woodwinked (golden shimmer, but light) all over, Antiqued (a rustic copper on the lid), with Brown Blue Pigment in the crease. It created the most striking affect for my eyes and I felt sexy as ever, as I always do.
