Dark and Glow-y
I have a really bad addiction to body bronzers. I'm always mixing, pouring and slathering just to get the right "glow." There's the walking down the streets of DC glow, then there is the "hanging out in Miami" glow, then there is "I've been doing yoga four times a week and I feel strong" glow. All my glows have one thing in common - moisture. I love applying loose bronzer powder from broken kits with baby oil to get a glow, but I'm not above mixing Monoi oil with a shimmer lotion to create the perfect glow.
A key to getting the bronzer right for your skin is to apply sparingly then back away from the mirror and then check. If you apply too much, then you are orange, not enough and you won't have that "I've been away on vacay" look. First start with exfoliating the skin and apply a fragrance free lotion. And don't forget to add sunscreen if you will be in the sun. Sunscreen is very important. Most of these have fragrance and you don't want to mix too many scents.
Here are my suggestions to be dark and glow-y for the summer.
Sephora's Super Sheen Bronzing Mist - I recently brought this with me to Miami. My cousin who usually isn't into bronzers saw my skin and said "spray me." I need this in my life. I also poured part in a small spray bottle and mixed with water and voila, a yummy smelling oil sheen. If you hair is long spray it on a brush and put through your hair.
Nars Body Glow - Nars is a pioneer of high pigment color. This Body Glow is a cult favorite with Tahitian Monoi oil that is so good for the skin.
Scott Barnes Body Bling - This is the granddady of body bronzers. Scott created this for Jennifer Lopez to give her skin that radiant glow.
Sue Devitt Liquid Gold Coast Bronzing Glow - Sue is Australian and knows a thing or too about being golden. I've got two words for you: Bondi Beach. This is where Sue came up with the idea for her product.
Guerlain Terracotta Teinte Dore - Guerlain has been making bronzers for the face for years. Even in the late 80s and early 90s they had the Terracotta bronzers. They have never stopped believing that a woman looks better with a glow. This is made for the body, but a little mixed with a tinted moisturizer for the face will work too.
I like to call this my "shimmy shimmy cocoa puff" glow. I hope these help you get your own glow and your skin glows like a candle in the wind.
