We live in a world where, for the right price, you can fix your not-so-loved body parts and be your mind’s version of perfection.
The list of things that you can cosmetically change about yourself are endless, yet deciding whether to go under the knife and become physically enhanced is not a choice that should be made lightly. In a world where you see both body enhancement magic and horrors, it is for sure not a decision that should be made overnight.

During an interview for Lifetime’s The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet, actress Zoe Saldana said that she has considered getting a boob job. She mentions that if “an old man was having a midlife crisis and can buy a Porsche and date a 17-year-old, I can buy myself a pair and be the sexiest soccer mom you’ve ever seen.”

Although Saldana is a celebrity, she is not alone. Women, of every status, are constantly in talks of getting work done. But the real question is: Are the results worth it? Now I’m sure everyone has a body part they wouldn’t mind tweaking or totally demolishing (love handles and saddle bags, anyone?), but when it comes to plastic surgery, there are things to keep in mind. If you come to the conclusion that all the money spent and pain endured will make you a better you than by all means call that doctor.

At this point in my life plastic surgery isn’t something I would consider. My body isn’t perfect, but that is nothing some exercise couldn’t resolve. But who is to say what may happen a few years down the line. A lift, tuck and snip may be in my future.

When deciding to go under the knife or have cosmetic alterations, it is really up to you to draw the line (figuratively, of course). A total body lift may not be for you, but a few shots of Botox may be more your speed. Plastic surgery is one of those things that you have to figure out on your own. It is the last thing you want to do because you feel pressure or want to fulfill someone else’s desires.

With Americans spending almost 14 million dollars on cosmetic procedures in 2011, if you decide to get nipped and tucked you are not alone. It’s pretty clear that women often weigh their options when it comes to surgery, and there’s definitely nothing wrong with considering it.
