Though opposition still plagues Aaliyah’s impending Lifetime produced biopic, the television company is still marching forward.
After replacing Zendaya with Alexandra Shipp to play the coveted role of Aaliyah, Lifetime has announced the casting of two very important roles. Unknown actors Chattrisse Dolabaille and Izaak Smith will play Missy Elliott and Timbaland respectively.
Both actors are Canadian natives as Chattrisse is a working actress/singer and Izaak is a former contestant on So You Think You Can Dance: Canada
Aaliyah: Princess of R&B has garnered negative reception from Aaliyah’s parents as well as from a slew of fans who played a role in the departure of Zendaya.
Though radio/tv personality Wendy Williams has jumped on the film’s production side, it currently lacks the presence of a big name star and with the flack surrounding it, we’re not sure how well this controversial film will do.
We’re not sure how we feel about the direction of this movie but we’ll see how things go.
