As Drake hit the stage of Canada’s fifth annual OVO Fest on Monday night (August 4), it was clear that he was feeling a little sentimental. The Toronto-native took his hometown fans through a timeline of his career, highlighting the best songs from his breakout mixtape and three albums, adding insightful stories about his rise to fame and giving hip hop and R&B’s finest some face time on stage including Usher, The Weeknd and G-Unit.
When Drake announced that he was going to bring out the “first famous American friend” who gave him a chance on stage, the majority of the crowd expected to see Lil Wayne, but it was in fact, Trigga Trey who popped on. The two performed the early hit “Successful” and Trey told the crowd about his first trip to Toronto, when Drake was making music in a corner studio and driving his old Acura.
