You’ll hear Whitney’s songs, but you won’t hear her voice in her upcoming biopic.
Just days after Lifetime released the photo revealing Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown in the Whitney Houston biopic, we’ve got more news on the highly anticipated movie.
While we all expected to hear some of the late and great legend’s music in her biopic, E! News has revealed that it won’t be Whitney’s voice we’ll all be singing along with nor will it be the voice of Yaya DaCosta, the former America’s Next Top Model who will be playing Houston in the film. Instead all of Houston’s songs will be sung by R&B singer, Deborah Cox.
A Lifetime rep told E!, “Music rights and clearances are still being worked out,” but Cox will be providing the “vocal tracks.”
The film directed by Angela Basset is currently shooting in Los Angeles and is expected to premiere on Lifetime next year.
