A huge change is being made by Marvel Comics to one of its most iconic heroes. On Tuesday’s episode of The View, it was announced that the god of thunder, Thor, would now be a woman in the comic series.
“It’s a huge day in the Marvel Universe,” said Whoopi Goldberg. “Thor, the God of Thunder, he messed up, and he’s no longer worthy to hold that damn hammer of his. For the first time in history, that hammer is being held by a woman. That’s right. Thor is a woman!”
Originally created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby in 1962, Thor was sent to Earth by his father Odin to learn about humility. Artwork shown on “The View” shows the female character to be blonde. No solid information has been given about the characters origins other than, “The story behind her is she created herself. She was saved by Thor and she came down to Earth, followed him, and made herself look like Thor and so now she’s taking over.”
“She is actually in better proportion than a lot of the female comic superheroes,” said Goldberg as she spoke of the characters breast size compared to her figure. “She’s got super-powered boobies,” said Jenny McCarthy.
Sherri Shepherd commented on the revolution from male to female superhero’s inspirational influence by saying, “It gives girls something to look up to.”
Marvel editor Wil Moss states, “The inscription on Thor’s hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it’s time to update that inscription. The new Thor continues Marvel’s proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this new Thor isn’t a temporary female substitute – she’s now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!”
