As if the Jackson family didn’t have enough controversy surrounding them, members of MJ’s extended clan are stepping out on their own. Tell-all book? 20/20-esque exposé? Social network scandal? Sex tape? Nah, they’re taking the ratchet reality route, of course.
Debuting November 18 on Reelz, the six-episode show will maintain focus on Alejandra Jackson, the ex-wife of Michael’s brother Jermaine, and her five children. After Michael’s death, they left the Jackson family home in suburban Encino. A clip from the show suggests moving wasn’t their idea.
Alejandra’s daughter Genevieve spoke out during the summer TV critics’ tour saying, “We didn’t want it to happen that way.” Son Donte Jackson added, “Some of the politics came into play.”
Genevieve also spoke of the constraints while living at the Encino house. “We were very sheltered,” she said. “There’s a lot of outside people coming in and out of our house. We had to watch what we said.”
Alejandra Jackson had two children with Randy Jackson — Genevieve and Randy Jr. — and then married Randy’s brother Jermaine, having sons Jaafar and Jermajesty. Alejandra has raised Donte, who was adopted by Katherine and Joe Jackson, since he was 2-years-old.
“It’s a long story,” Alejandra said in regards to her love life.
Why don’t Alejandra Jackson and family want to keep their private lives private, especially being one of the most famous families in pop culture?
“People already had a preconceived judgment of us and we weren’t speaking,” Randy Jr. said. “Now we feel comfortable enough to show how we really are.”
This show is going to be very interesting!
