The Aaliyah biopic rumors were true, they just didn’t have all the facts right.
VH1 won’t be airing the film based on the Christopher Farley biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman, Lifetime will. And reports of Keshia Chante landing the lead was pure speculation. The role is already claimed by Zendaya Coleman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Replay” singer will be rocking baggy pants and tight mid drifts for the next few months as she finishes the tentatively titled film, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.
Unable to contain her excitement, the actress took to Twitter to confirm the rumors in a series of tweets, “beautiful story, and make her proud up in heaven #babygirl #forever #OneInAMillion” and “I’m just a 17 year old girl who got cast to play one of her biggest inspirations #positive,” she said revealing her lead spot.
“She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter then ever, all I wanna do is honor her.” The former Disney star continued. “Show how much she accomplished in only 22 years….she’s beautiful inside and there will never be another Aaliyah, I just hope to share her beautiful story, and make her proud up in heaven.”
Despite the family’s reluctance, Aaliyah Productions Inc. will be producing the film, written by Michael Elliot and directed by Bradley Walsh.
