Last week, news of Ice Cube’s son playing him in the upcoming NWA biopic, duly named Straight Outta Compton, spread across the net. And casting O’Shea Jr. as a young Cube makes sense with the budding actor/rapper looking just like his father and having firsthand knowledge of his days with the west coast crew.
Now, Universal studios have found two fresh faces to round out the group. Classically trained actor, Marcus Callender won out the part of Dr. Dre—beating out Dre’s choice, Michael B. Jordan, who is busy filming another project. Jason Mitchell will make his big screen debut playing Eazy-E in the NWA biopic.
The film is said to have the green light for production with the cast now complete.
