Jhené Aiko is prepping for her anticipated debut LP, Souled Out, which drops this summer. During a sit-down with Fader.com, the LA songstress spoke about the development of her album and some of the producers she worked with on the project. She also revealed that there will be no hip-hop collaborations on it.
When asked to describe the sound of her album, Ms. Aiko compared herself to the legendary Sade:
“A lot of people compare it to a younger Sade with urban stories. I always say, “Keep it pretty but I want you to be able to ride around to it in your car” and have respect for 808s and something that makes a beat. As far as the lyrics go, they’re super honest and on this album you’ll see me doing different things with my voice.”
Vixens, what do you think? Is her comparison the sweetest taboo?
