BET Honors 2014: Show

In case you missed it, the 2014 BET Honors aired last night (Feb 24). The awards were hosted by funny man Wayne Brady and the affair was truly black excellence at its best.

The seventh annual event honored greats like Aretha Franklin, Berry Gordy Jr., Ice Cube, and the late Nelson Mandela  for their accomplishments in various fields.

The highlight of the evening was the tribute performances for the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin and the founding father of Motown, Berry Gordy Jr. Tamar Braxton performed  Diana Ross’ hit ‘Upside Down,’  and Janelle Monae gave an energetic rendition of The Jackson 5’s  classic ‘I Want You Back,’ and Motown’s own, Smokey Robinson gave us a soulful performance. During Aretha Franklin’s tribute her granddaughter, Victorie Franklin, performed Tamela Mann’s ‘Take Me to the King’ to honor her grandmother. That was followed by an outstanding tribute by Jennifer Hudson. Mariah Carey, a previous honoree, also performed her new song ‘You’re Mine for the first time-in a a low cut dress on top of a grand piano.

Overall, it was a remarkable show, flip the page to see pics from last night’s  show .
