Apparently, money and fame doesn’t make someone immune to racism. But thanks to Samuel L Jackson, one reporter will never have the case of mistaken identity again. KTLA Entertainment anchor, Sam Rubin questioned Jackson about his Superbowl commercial, with one slight hiccup—the commercial in question starred Laurence Fishburne.
Instead of ignoring his ignorance, the actor let him have it: “We may be all black and famous, but we all don’t look alike—you’re an entertainment reporter for this station and you don’t know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne?”
Despite the reporter profusely apologizing, the Unbreakable actor continued to school the confused journalist, “There’s more than one black guy doing a commercial. I’m the ‘What’s in your wallet?’ black guy. He’s the car black guy and Morgan Freeman is the other credit card black guy.”
Which is true—the only commonalities they all have are that they are great black actors. This isn’t the first this has happened and we can bet it won’t be the last—expect when it comes to Samuel Jackson.
