Earlier this year, President Barack Obama commented on the fact that today’s American Dream has changed and has become far too focused on material things. Before name-dropping Kim Kardashian and her beau Kanye West, the President explained that there has been a shift in culture and that older generations did not have the privilege of peering into the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

“Kids weren’t monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success,” he said.

The President’s remarks may have been justified today, as Bing unveiled its annual top searches list. Kim K. ranked several spots higher than Obama on the Top Searched Person of 2013 data this year, as did Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus. Obama was also preceded by Beyoncé Knowles, who topped the list and sang at the Inauguration ceremony in January. Although Beyoncé’s last studio album came out in 2011, she’s made plenty of headlines this year by teasing her new project and embarking on a sold-out world tour.

Beyoncé’s reign, which also included a Super Bowl half-time performance and a track titled “Bow Down,” bumped Kardashian out of the top spot this year. Rihanna ranked third, followed by Taylor Swift and Madonna. The prez and Justin Bieber are the only males in the top ten. Check out more of the popular search engine’s collective lists after the jump!
