Perhaps Kanye West should send a thank you card to Halle Berry? For years, the wildly popular actress and her daughter have been hounded by relentless paparazzi and this year- enough was enough. With the support of other Hollywood moms, including Jennifer Garner, the biracial beauty fought at the California State Capitol for protective laws.
On September 24, Halle’s dreams came true as Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a redefinition of harassment. As of January 1, 2014, paparazzo caught photographing or recording a “famous” child because of his/her parent’s job can be fined ($10,000 for first and doubled for every other one) and spend up to one year in jail.
“On behalf of my children, it is my hope that this is the beginning of the end for those overly aggressive paparazzi whose outrageous conduct has caused so much trauma and emotional distress,” said Berry in a public statement.
This history making change will for sure affect the amount of access we have to celebrity families….and we think that’s a good thing.
Congratulations to Halle and her allies!
