When Eva Mendes isn’t cruising New York City with our imaginary boyfriend Ryan Gosling, she’s posing pretty for magazine covers. The Cuban American bombshell is The Edit’s cover girl and giving us 70′s vintage and modern day chic for the nearly perfect editorial spread.
Inside, she’s famously guarded as she talks about her early acting days and how far she’s come.
“At the beginning it was tricky – I had to choose between paying the rent sometimes and having artistic integrity. [The Place Beyond the Pines] was the first time I felt like I’d played a real person. When I saw the film, I thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s a real woman with real struggles and torture behind her eyes’. That was big for me.”
She’s equally passionate about her upcoming collaboration with New York & Company where the fashion line will be directly inspired by her closet and love for thrifting. The Training Day hottie wasn’t so forthcoming about beau Ryan Gosling.
“I’m not trying to be cagey or protective. But when I go through something that has such an impact on me, it’s tough for me to articulate. I’m sorry. I’m shutting down. I’m such a weirdo. I literally lose my ability to speak – and you were doing so well,” she tells the interviewer.
