Tina Turner threw tradition out the window when it came to her long awaited nuptials in Switzerland. Weeks ago, the 73-year old music legend wed music executive Erwin Bach after a 27- year courtship that started in London’s Heathrow Airport. Surrounded by 120 guests dressed in black and white, the “Proud Mary” songtress wore an emerald green Armani gown embellished with Swarovski crystals.
Turner tells Hello! Magazine, who had exclusive access to the wedding, that she first spotted the unique creation on a Beijing runway.
“I thought, ‘I gotta have that, even if I never wear it.’ Then I thought, ‘I know, that will be my wedding dress.”
Paired with black leggings and strappy heels, Tina looked every bit the rock star, even as a blushing bride.
Wedding guests included good friends Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King, who were spotted by cameras congratulating the newlyweds. When asked about her husband, Tina called him the source of her happiness.
“It’s that happiness that people talk about, when you wish for nothing, when you can finally take a deep breath and say, ‘Everything is good.’ It’s a wonderful place to be.”
