Langston Hughes’ play Black Nativity will come to life this holiday.
The musical drama follows Jacob Latimore’s character Langston, a Baltimore-based teenager sent to New York by his single mother to spend the Christmas season with his relatives, played by Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett.
The upset young-un fights tooth and nail with his estranged family in order to be sent back to his struggling mom, Naima, portrayed by Jennifer Hudson. Nas, Mary J. Blige, Luke James, and Tyrese all star in this musical journey for self and family discovery.
The movie is slated to be released Nov. 27 but you can watch Hudson’s revamped “Silent Night” play in the trailer below.
