Wendy Williams has the gift of gab, but does she have the gift of song too? The talk show queen will take her talents to the Great White Way as she’s slated to join the cast of Chicago as Matron “Mama” Morton. In an interview with Page Six, the PETA spokeswoman says she’s already practicing Morton’s signature number “When You’re Good To Mama,” a tune she says “requires more sass than hitting operatic notes.”
The controversial host is also working with a vocal coach to pace her voice so she doesn’t blow it out. “I’ve never had laryngitis before in all my years in radio, so I want to be very careful to spare my instrument.”
Williams makes her debut on June 25 and will perform through August 11. Other famous faces to take on the larger than life role include Sofia Vergara, Chandra Wilson and Queen Latifah.
