Ford Apologizes for Sexist Ad, Animated Kardashians Bound and Gagged

Ford Sexist Ad KardashiansFord has put out a public apology for ads depicting the Kardashians and other celebrity women gagged and bound in the back of the car company’s latest automobile, The Figo. The unapproved ads were made by India-based creative agency JWT.

After they were put on sharing site Ads of the World, they were quickly taken down. Two of the ads are still online, one with former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi with three women in the back of the car. The caption read “Leave Your Worries Behind with the Figo’s extra-large boot.” This mocks the former prime minister’s legal woes from 2011, when he was accused of allegedly trying to have sex with a minor. The other ad features Paris Hilton in the front of the car with the Kardashian sisters, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney tied in the back.

Ford released this statement this week:

“We deeply regret this incident and agree with our agency partners that it should have never happened. The posters are contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within Ford and our agency partners.”

According to Yahoo!, a Ford spokesman stated that the images were ideas meant for a creative competition in India, not used. “They were never intended as any sort of campaign or paid use. They did not go through the normal approvals and process before being uploaded to a website.” — Desire Thompson
