Today (March 8) marks International Women’s Day. While it’s nice to give ourselves a pat on the back and offer words of encouragement to each other, we still fail to realize how lucky we really are. Unfortunately, there are women all over the world not awarded the same opportunities as Americans. But thanks to companies like L’Occitane, there is a chance to make a small difference.
Today, the beauty brand is celebrating with a limited edition, fundraising, fair-trade Shea butter soap. The $8 product is produced in Burkina Faso, Africa as part of a development partnership with a women-run factory working toward economic emancipation. Since 2006, the L’Occitane Foundation has provided literacy skills to almost 2,000 women. Buy a bar of soap here, where 100% of the proceeds will benefit the cause.
