Decoding YouTube Beauty Lingo

youtube beautyThe YouTube beauty community is exploding! Women no longer need to fend for themselves for information on all things beauty. Everyday girls like you and I are sharing all they know about everything from ‘how to create the perfect winged liner’ to ‘what to wear on a first date’. But as helpful as these videos are, the verbiage can become confusing. What’s a “haul” and how can you spot a “sponsored video”? We’ve compiled a breakdown of YouTube beauty jargon so you won’t be left scratching your head the next time you log on.



A tutorial is pretty self explanatory but on YouTube you will find either “talk-thru” or “voice-over” tutorials. Talk-thru tutorials are typically more in depth explanations and voice-overs are brief instructions between music. If you are a beginner, look for talk-thru’s but if you’re just looking to be entertained check out the voice-over’s.
