President Obama Person of the YearIn not-so-surprising news of the day, second term POTUS Barack Obama has been crowned Time magazine’s ”Person of the Year.” Unveiled by Managing Editor Richard Stengel, he notes Obama’s staggering win over Romney and new political “alignment like Ronald Reagan did forty years ago” in the midst of an economic crisis for its choice.

Michael Scherer, who profiled Obama for the annual piece, wrote the following:

Beyond the Oval Office, overwhelming challenges remain: deadlocked fiscal-cliff talks; a Federal Reserve that predicts years of high unemployment; and more unrest in places like Athens, Cairo and Damascus. But the President seems unbound and gives inklings of an ambition he has kept in check ever since he arrived at the White House to find a nation in crisis.

Person of the Year runner-up is Pakastani activist Malala Yousafzai who was shot by Taliban after fighting for better girls education. Other finalists includ Bill and Hilary Clinton and the Apple CEO.
