Remakes are usually a hit or miss. In Queen Latifah‘s case, it’s a definite hit.

The femcee-turned-actress, who executive produced an all-black remake of the classic film Steel Magnolias, drew in a record 6.5 million people to Lifetime this weekend. The movie, which also stars Jill Scott, Alfre Woodard and Phylicia Rashad, is now the network’s third most watched telecast EVER. In related news, Abducted: The Carlina White Story also drew in 4.1 million viewers during its premiere telecast on Saturday night. The flick, which stars Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepherd, tells the true story of a girl who is abducted as a child and solves her own case as an adult.

Lifetime released the following statement:

We couldn’t be happier with the great response to Steel Magnolias and Abducted: The Carlina White Story received from viewers this weekend,” Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming at Lifetime Networks, said in a statement. “These incredible numbers speak to the powerful stories and performances delivered by amazing casts and the strong production teams behind each movie.
