Saturday, October 13 was a night for the black and beautiful as Hollywood’s elite stepped out for Black Girls Rock 2012. The organization, founded by Beverly Bond, aims to empower and mentor young women of color, while also promoting a positive portrayal of black women in the media.
This year’s event was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King and includes appearances from Ciara and Missy Elliott, Keyshia Cole, Brandy and more.
Scandal star Kerry Washington and singer Janelle Monae were among those honored by the organization for their contribution to black girls everywhere through their careers. The ceremony airs on BET until November 4, but in the meantime, check out our gallery where cocktail dresses and curve-hugging gowns ruled the pink carpet.–Nicole Brown
