This past Sunday was Philip Treacy‘s outrageous hat show at London Fashion Week. Beginning with an opening from 26-year-old pop star Lady Gaga, Philip Treacy’s Michael Jackson-inspired show was, indeed, over the top.
Gaga introduced Treacy to the audience in a hot pink netting that covered nearly her entire body. The collection paid tribute to the King of Pop, featuring an all-black cast of models who staged an energetic, artistic and unforgettable experience for all those in attendance! With the thumping of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits, the crowd was dancing and watching in awe as the models walked the runway wearing several of the Jackson’s vintage costumes paired with Treacy’s head wear designs. One model walked the runway in the infamous “Thriller” jacket, with a bejeweled white glove hat resting on her head, while another had designs such as saucer-like Mickey Mouse ears and plethora of others. The show not only paid tremendous homage to the King of Pop, but it also secured Treacy’s place as the King of Hats for sure.
