The New Brooklyn Nets cheerleaders are prepped to change the game. The sartorial game that is.
Designer David Dalyrymple shares the aesthetic of the new borough’s cheerleading uniforms. He says, “The uniforms are feminine and strong. This isn’t palm trees and sunshine. It’s New York City, and it’s Brooklyn. It’s a different sensibility. We go hard.”
However, I believe he’s taken the street sensibility a little too literal. Incorporating the team’s color of black and white stripes, one of the looks gives a prison garb vibe that will have you putting your hands up in surrender rather than in support. Overall, the looks cheapen the ladies and parody an assumed aesthetic of some of the “hard” areas of Brooklyn. This ultimately gets a side-eye from me.
