Lozada’s lawyer Michael Gilden told People Magazine, “Evelyn and Mr. Johnson were divorced this morning in an uncontested final hearing. My client is a single woman and looks forward to her future.”
The Basketball Wives star filed for divorce on August 14 citing the marriage was “irretrievably broken” after being head-butted by Johnson during an argument over a condom receipt. Johnson was arrested following the domestic dispute.
“It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well,” Evelyn stated during an interview.
As a result of the domestic dispute, Johnson was released from the Miami Dolphins and the couple also lost their VH1 reality show Ev and Chad. Johnson was determined to work on his marriage and even tweeted a pic of a tattoo of Lozada’s face.
Lozada recently appeared on Iyanla: Fix My Life to discuss her behavior on Basketball Wives and her one-month marriage. Check out the clip below of her describing her relationship with her ex-husband.
