Even though designers paraded the peplum trend down their spring 2012 runways, peplums are anything but new. Tops, skirts, dresses and jackets have all undergone a peplum makeover.
The ruffled waist-hugging piece adds volume while creating a flattering hourglass shape. Nonetheless, the engineering of actually wearing one can be a little frustrating.
The cut was actually popularized in the 1800s and resurfaced in the1940s and 1980s. With that said, it’s safe to say that they’re making a strong comeback for the colder seasons.–Vicki Valery
