Supermodel Cynthia Bailey (@CynthiaBailey10) and The Bailey Agency School of Fashion are initiating a two-day model search in Atlanta, Georgia on August 25th and 26, providing young talent (ages 13 and up) the resources and education they need to excel in the fashion world.
“I feel like the South has less access to the possibilities of getting discovered by scouts. It was very difficult for me getting discovered,” Bailey says. “I really didn’t have a lot of information about the business, and I definitely didn’t have any real access to figure out how to get into the business.”
The judges, which include supermodel Tyson Beckford, will spend each day looking for the girls that have what it takes to break into the biz. Industry workshops will cover topics that help educate the young girls, something Bailey heavily emphasizes.
“It’ll be a two-day seminar,” she says excitedly. “The first day will be the model search. For that day, we’re just booking for someone who has the look of what it takes to be a model. The second day is the seminar process, and they will get an opportunity to talk to industry professionals–photographers, bookers, agents, hairstylists, makeup artists.”
If any aspiring models are nervous to participate, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star assures that taking one small leap of faith can change your life. “If I hadn’t had the ambition and the courage to leave my little, small city in Alabama and go to New York City, I think my life would have been very different. I know that one choice led me to where I’m at right now.”
The last model standing will win a $10,000 cash reward, a contract with a model agency and a Derek Blanks-photographed spread published in VIBE Vixen’s Oct-Nov Digital Issue.
