Lauryn Hill has become another celebrity to get hitched to the tax wagon. Apparently the singer has been charged with failing to file income tax returns for several years with the IRS. An announcement came this morning from the U.S. State Attorney’s office in Newark, NJ.
The Grammy winner earned 1.6 million dollars between 2005, 2006, and 2007, the three years that she allegedly did not file taxes. According to prosecutors, she was earning royalty checks that time from recording and film industries. Hill also earns money from her four corporations – Creations Music, Boogie Tours, L.H. Productions 2001 and Studio 22.
We recently saw Lauryn Hill ripping the stage at Hot 97′s Summer Jam, let’s hope she’s keeping her head above water.
She’s scheduled to appear before the U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Shipp on June 29.
