Rising rapper Azealia Banks covers the Summer 2012 music issue of Paper Magazine, on shelves now.
Following suit after Brooklyn and Queens femcees Lil’ Kim and Nicki Minaj, Harlem-bred Banks coochie squats on the cover, this time donning colorful clothes and bearing a playful (sort-o)f smile. She has all the reason to be happy, as she is picking up steam fast on the hip-hop scene.
In the span of just one year, she released a viral video for global hit “212” (which racked up over 20 million views), signed with Universal Music, performed for fashion figure Karl Lagerfeld, attended the Met Ball with Alexander Wang, was well received by a Coachella crowd, digitally dropped her debut EP 1991 and sold out her first Mermaid Ball in NYC.
Her next mixtape Fantasy will drop on July 4 and her debut album, Broke with Expensive Taste, is expected to drop this fall.
