Jennifer Williams Sues Evelyn Lozada’s Assistant Over Slap

Posted by on Apr 18, 2012

Jennifer Williams has filed a lawsuit today (April 18) against Nia Crooks, her former friend and Evelyn Lozada‘s current assistant. Audiences watched as the Basketball Wives star was attacked on Monday night’s episode by the Manhattan woman after a disagreement over Jenn’s “new” character.

The slap heard was around the world and will soon cause a ripple in the justice system.

“Violence used against any person is wrong but when a woman hits another woman it sets a horrible example for young girls everywhere,” Williams exclusively tells the Daily News. “I was sitting at the conference room table and this girl starts arguing with me out of nowhere.”

Williams has openly admitted to living a very classy and suburban lifestyle, which sometimes is perceived uppity. In her defense, fans felt that the act was still pretty traumatizing and the cast member was undeserving.

“I didn’t watch the video for a long time because I lived it,” she said. “It’s disturbing. It’s humiliating. I get anxiety just thinking about it.”
She expressed more of her thoughts on her blog here stating,
“Here’s the thing: on my show some of these women take pride in showing their ass in the most compromising way.  These females have a point to prove and will do or say anything to be a “reality show star.” Fame is a powerful drug and some will go any length to achieve it.  I am a grown woman and I have never had to fight someone to prove my point, I use my vocabulary and brain for that.  Mature woman should be able to communicate their differences without violence.  Using your hands to express yourself is absolutely WACK!!!
She’s right. Yes, reality TV is entertainment, but when someone is being wrongly threatened and violated, it’s time to stop the cameras and get serious. In many people’s eyes, this is full-blown bullying, and the negative images surrounding Black women on television has taken on new life. Something must be done, and Jennifer is taking steps in the right direction.
She will hold a press conference tomorrow (April 19) to address the civil complaint she has filed and her attorneys will field questions.
