The whole Basketball Wives crew is about to be engulfed in a legal battle. So far Jennifer Williams has been the only one tossing around her legal muscle after she was slapped by Evelyn’s assistant, Nia Crooks, but according to TMZ, the table’s could be turning on her quickly.
Basketball Wives producers are reportedly ready to take their own legal action against Jen for putting the show on blast for its negative portrayals of black women, and they say her show-bashing is in violation of her contract. Apparently the ladies are forbidden from doing any media appearances or press without approval, or speaking negatively about the show, and based on her lawsuit, they believe she is “ruining the brand” they’ve built for four seasons.
The brand has pretty much been ruined from the start by the ladies behavior, but Jen’s suit has definitely escalated the backlash. Not only has a petition been started to boycott Chad and Evelyn’s new spinoff show on change.org but Star Jones is planning an anti-Basketball Wives coalition to prevent similar programming from hitting the air and possibly stop these ladies from having a fifth season. So far it’s not clear what the outcome of her criminal and civil suits against Nia will be but if the producers are as angry as reports say it looks like at the very least Jen might not be returning to the show, although there may not be a show to return to anyway.
