By now, I’m sure you, along with seven million other people, have seen Nicki Minaj’s latest video, “Stupid Hoe.” It’s the first track off Nickster’s anticipated—and recently pushed back—sophomore disc Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. I made the mistake of reading the comments about it before I saw it. It couldn’t be that bad, I thought, even if the title should have raised a flag.
Um… it’s worse. I watched it once, wondering “WTF is this?” and laughing at too few and far between highlights such as “Who’s gassin’ this hoe? BP” and “These bitches is my sons and I don’t want custody.” I watched it a second time to figure out if it was a satire that had gone over my head. I watched a third time only to realize that it wasn’t.
And it wasn’t just me, left staring blankly at the screen after the video had gone off. Over on Clutch, Thembi Ford was practically, well, clutching her pearls.
“[Nicki Minaj’s] new video, ‘Stupid Hoe’ is just straight up confusing and makes me think that she may have jumped her own shark,” Ford wrote. “Not only does the song itself sound like a more-vulgar version of her Big Sean collaboration ‘A$$’ — and I mean just like it — but watching the video kind of feels like torture — I mean the Clockwork Orange, Guantanamo Bay kind.”
Sigh.
I’m not even mad Nick spent an entire track dissing Kim. Hova knows the Queen Bee has been buzzing enough to have it coming. It’s how Nick does it that is softly killing me. “Stupid Hoe” isn’t Nicki spitting like she has something to prove the way she did on say “Monster” or her tag-team with Eminem, “Roman’s Revenge.” This is just plain… stupid.

If you’re fans of Nicki, you should want her to put out her best so that haters can hate on everything but they can’t hate on her music. Fact is, she’s counting on her fans to be stupid hos that will buy her music & defend it, even if it’s crap. And with the whole lil Kim thing, they are both riding this wave to keep people interested. Both of them need to stop, and Nicki should focus on improving her lyrics cause she barely even raps anymore. I can’t believe in 2012 and after a Nicki Minaj album has been released for months now, you would be shocked at anything she does. What was there to get about this video? We got what Nicki’s image is. Corky, vulgar, theatrical and fun. If she ever changed who she was, she wouldn’t have the success she does now. As she stated on her first album; “you might get addressed on the second album.” It’s clear she would address Lil’ Kim, she’s been hinting it for months, so that shouldn’t surprised you either. The video was hilarious and it shows that Nicki doesn’t have to do much of anything to get, keep and bank off of your attention.

After considering all the factors, it’s not an extremely bad song like everyone thinks, however not amazing. The beats are minimalist but effective. The lyrics could be worked on but not incredibly bad. The video is a mistake but what are you going to do now? Let me mention that THE VIDEO IS ALWAYS SEPARATE FROM THE CREATION OF MUSIC. NEVER SAY THAT LESS TIME COULD BE SPENT ON THE VIDEO AND MORE ON THE MUSIC. It doesn’t work that way.
After listening the song several times, it actually became a bit catchy.
It’s an okay song, definitely not the best thing Nicki’s ever made, but not the enough to be the worst song of 2012.

The thing is Im not a fan of Nicki’s or a hater, I like some of her songs, but I could never get past the “facades” like the many alter-ego’s ( or personality disorder ) she has going on that I dont know is really true or fake. If fake than she’s lame, if really true like she “claims” than she needs mental help, NOT praise.
Not to mention when you get past all the fun & entertainment, there is still NO intellect or substance to her music.
Its sad that she doesn’t seriously consider the many YOUNG fans ( teens & kids ) that are her main fan base. She cals them her “Barbs” but their mostly just KIDS, who dont mind the lack of any meaningful to her music.
She’s NOT a regular rapper, she has an image & fan base that directly influences young ppl, especialy young girls who will defend anything she does. She should KNOW better than to release a video like “Stupid Hoe”, the lease she could have done was leave it on the album, but NOT to make such a degrading & senseless video that kids WILL be saying to each other because of her.
She’s becoming sickening.
Thats why I can’t wait for Lola Monroe to blow up, listen to Lola’s “Stay Schemin” freestyle, you’ll see why once Nicki’s through ( which WILL be soon ) Lola’s gonna take over.
