Kerry Washington has a racy spread in the February issue of Details magazine, which is perfect considering the title of the actress’s new primetime drama on ABC, Scandal. The 34-year-old will play a crisis manager in DC who helps clients navigate political, media, and legal drama.
She’s “fascinated with how people become who they are,” but we’re obsessed with how she came to be one of our favorite Hollywood actresses. The New Yorker “credits her ability to play a diverse array of roles to an upbringing that had her shuttling between worlds. She grew up middle-class in the Bronx (watching neighbor J.Lo ascend to stardom) while commuting to an elite private school on Manhattan’s Upper East Side,” the mag says.
While it’s hard for us to imagine Kerry not being on the big screen and snapping photos at red carpet events, she told Details she didn’t expect to have a Hollywood career when she studied theater in college. “I wasn’t invested in the fame part,” she says.
Luckily for her fans, the fame came along naturally.
