Ester Dean is the Newest Face of Roc Nation

The lyricist behind some of 2011’s hottest songs is now stepping out from behind the pen to launch her own career as the newest recording artist of Roc Nation.

Ester Dean will join Rihanna, J. Cole, and Willow Smith as a label mate under Jay Z’s management company now that she’s signed a deal with the label. The 24-year-old Oklahoma native is responsible for writing Rihanna’s “Rude Boy,” Katy Perry’s “Firework,” and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” and she’s also co-written for a slew of the biggest names in Hip Hop and R&B like Beyonce, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Keyshia Cole, Kelly Rowland, and more.

The raspy vocalist said she is currently picking songs for her album and expects it to drop early this year. When Billboard asked Ester about her drive to launch her solo career in May 2011 she told them she’s a no-nonsense artist.

“I’m not walking into a sexist room. You can have it. Write the song yourself, you know? You give something, I give something. You get paid, I get paid. The day you get paid and I don’t is the day that we don’t work. My advice to women trying to break into this end of the business is to stand up for yourself and keep your skirt down. Know how much you’re worth.”

Ester Dean will definitely be a vixen to watch in 2012.
